Missio is the Pope's official charity for overseas mission.
Take a look at the Missio website www.missio.org.uk/
to find out more about the wonderful work they do and, perhaps, to help.
Within the parish, you can help raise valuable funds by taking a Red Box. It is a practical way to help and a regular reminder in the home of the universal church.
Parish contact - David Robinson
Thank you for your continued care of our Church family through your support of the Red Box and direct donations. Your prayers and gifts continue to sustain missionary priests and sisters as they share God's love with some of the most vulnerable, marginalised people throughout the world. People like the community of St Thomas's Church in Malawi who you can see on the Thank You poster alongside their parish priest, Fr Henry.
He has written to us, saying: 'The community of St Thomas's Church was once laughed at because we didn't have our own church building in which to gather and pray. I encouraged them to start making their own bricks, a few at a time, from the mud and other materials they had to hand.
'Young people, members of the choir, anyone who was able, went to fetch stones from the hill and sand from the river to build the foundations. Your support helped us buy the concrete, metal sheeting, and supporting pillars. And now the church has been built 'The Church is a community. lt is a family that has to take care of itself, as a father takes care of his children, and then reaches out to others - to the whole family of God.
'Anne lives in a remote village I visit regularly thanks to your support. She says, "The priest brings to our village Christ's presence in Holy Communion. The presence of the priest is very important. As old people, we often miss out on going to church. It makes my heart heavy. When the priest comes Jesus has visited us. Christ comes into our villages and our homes."
Fr Henry concludes , 'Thank you for believing in us year after year. We know that the people of England and Wales continue to pray for us daily. Please know that we, too, pray for you and thank God for the love shown to us.'
